Why another captivity journal? This is what my children and young staff asked me when we tried to copy or scan this document so that it could be made available to a wider public: “Why another sign of one of the many officers who actively, enthusiastically and dutifully participated in the Second World War – even though there are already so many of them?<\/p>\n

G\u00fcnter Haude, our father, kept a diary during one year of war, namely during the Russian campaign in 1941\/42, and in captivity from February 1945 to May 1946, thus creating two very different documents, both in terms of content and thoughtfulness and in terms of style. The war diary is in the style of a chronicler, one who has learned his craft of war and is now carrying it out in the expected scope.
This also suited G\u00fcnter Haudes’ task: he was responsible for the documentation of the war, especially the photographic documentation. Only when the circumstances of the war – swarms of mosquitoes, heat, great cold – became more adverse, when accidents and technical failures became more frequent, does it become clear how stressful this situation was for him as well. He clearly notes unjustified and improper decisions by superiors. We know quite a lot about the Russian campaign, because there are several well-assorted photo albums of the campaigns and also exact dates of the individual battles. The captivity diary probably had another purpose: Our father was already married at that time and had a small son – the responsibility and sense of duty to his family makes him more thoughtful and profound.<\/p>\n

Warum ein weiteres Gefangenschaftstagebuch? Das haben mich meine Kinder und jungen Mitarbeiter gefragt, als wir dieses Dokument versuchten abzuschreiben oder zu scannen, damit es einer breiteren \u00d6ffentlichkeit zur Verf\u00fcgung steht: \u201eWozu noch ein weiteres Zeichen eines der vielen Offiziere, die den Zweiten Weltkrieg aktiv, begeistert und pflichtbewu\u00dft mitgemacht haben \u2013 obwohl es schon so viele davon gibt?\u201c <\/p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=\"4.2.1\"][et_pb_column type=\"4_4\" _builder_version=\"4.2.1\"][et_pb_text _builder_version=\"4.2.1\"]

G\u00fcnter Haude, unser Vater, hat in einem Kriegsjahr, n\u00e4mlich w\u00e4hrend des Ru\u00dflandfeldzuges 1941\/42, und in der Gefangenschaft von Februar 1945 bis Mai 1946 Tagebuch gef\u00fchrt.Er hat damit zwei sehr unterschiedliche Dokumente geschaffen, sowohl in punkto Inhalt und Nachdenklichkeit als auch, was den Stil betrifft. Das Kriegstagebuch ist im Stil eines Chronisten gehalten, eines, der sein Kriegshandwerk gelernt hat und es nun im erwarteten Umfang ausf\u00fchrt.
Das pa\u00dfte auch zu der Aufgabe G\u00fcnter Haudes: Er war zust\u00e4ndig f\u00fcr die Dokumentation des Krieges, vor allem f\u00fcr die Fotodokumentation. Erst als die Umst\u00e4nde des Krieges \u2013 M\u00fcckenschw\u00e4rme, Hitze, gro\u00dfe K\u00e4lte \u2013 widriger wurden, als Ungl\u00fccke und technisches Versagen sich h\u00e4uften, wird offensichtlich, wie belastend diese Situation auch f\u00fcr ihn war. Ungerechtfertigte und unsachgem\u00e4\u00dfe Entscheidungen von Vorgesetzten vermerkt er deutlich. \u00dcber den Ru\u00dflandfeldzug wissen wir ziemlich viel, weil mehrere gut sortierte Fotoalben der Feldz\u00fcge existieren und auch genaue Zeitangaben der einzelnen Schlachten.
